Why take a CBT approach to therapy?
CBT is an evidence-based treatment, widely supported by research for its effectiveness in treating mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, OCD and PTSD (NICE recommended). CBT empowers individuals by teaching them how to manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors independently, fostering a sense of control. By focusing on coping strategies and modifying harmful thought patterns, it provides long-term benefits that extend beyond the therapy itself. Additionally, CBT can be delivered creatively using interactive or visual techniques, which can make the therapy more engaging and memorable, especially for those who are visual or kinesthetic learners.
Individual Therapy
I offer personalised therapy sessions designed to meet your individual needs. I like to incorporate creative and visual elements when helpful, and I also use mindfulness techniques and third-wave CBT approaches, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy.
To support your progress, I provide written feedback after each session, along with voice-recorded mindfulness guidance if that’s useful for you. I offer therapy either in my Exeter-based clinic or outdoors, combining the benefits of nature with the therapeutic process. I’ve undertaken Hill and Moorland Leader training and hold the 16-hour Outdoor First Aid qualification, so you can feel confident and safe if we decide to take our sessions outside.
